Fuel Pump Check Valve, Checking


WARNING!
Fire hazard! Do NOT have anything in the area that can ignite gasoline!


Requirements
- VAG1348/3A Remote control is still connected.
- VAG1318 Pressure gauge s still connected.

Test sequence


NOTE: This procedure simultaneously checks for leaks all the fuel supply connections between the fuel delivery unit and the VAG1318 pressure gauge connection.







- Close pressure gauge cut-off tap.
- Lever at right angles to direction of flow -arrow-
- Operate remote control at short intervals, until a pressure of approx. 3 bar has built up.


WARNING!
Danger of fuel spray when opening the cut-off tap, hold container over the pressure gauge free connection.


If too much pressure builds up:
- Lower excess pressure by carefully opening cut-off tap.
- Watch pressure drop on gauge.
- After 10 minutes the pressure must not drop below 2.5 bar.

If pressure continues dropping:
- Check line connections for leaks.

If OK:
- Fuel pump malfunctioning, replace fuel delivery unit.
