Diesel Direct Fuel Injection System, Servicing

- Diesel fuel is drawn in from the fuel tank via suction from the injection pump, compressed and sprayed directly into the combustion compartment on the piston floor via jets.
- Injection quantity is electronically controlled via the Diesel Direct Injection system Engine Control Module (ECM). Electronic control permits flexible, accurate, close control over injection quantity, process, start of injection and EGR functions.
- The Diesel direct injection system ECM is equipped with a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory.
- Before starting repairs, adjustments and troubleshooting; Check DTC memory and perform an Output Diagnostic Test Mode check (DTM). Testing and Inspection

NOTE: While performing normal checking and adjusting operations, the ECM may recognize and store certain malfunctions. For this reason, after completing all checking and adjusting operations you must erase DTC memory. Testing and Inspection

If DTC memory was erased
- Create Readiness Code. Testing and Inspection
