With Manufacturer's Scan Tool

Special Tools, Testers And Auxiliary Items:
- Scan Tool VAG 1551/1552 with VAG 1551/3 adaptor cable

NOTE: The VAG 1552 Scan Tool can be used instead of the VAG 1551, however the 1552 is not equipped with a printer.

Work Sequence:
- Connect VAG 1551/1552 Scan Tool
- Start engine and let idle
- Press 0 and 1 buttons to select "address Word 01" "engine electronics"

If engine will NOT start, perform the following:
- Switch ON ignition
- Press PRINT button on Scan Tool to switch ON printer
Warning light in button MUST light up
Display will appear as shown:

Select function XX


- Operate Scan Tool taking displayed information into account
- Press 0 and 2 buttons to select Function 02 "Check DTC memory"
- Press Q button to enter input
Number of DTCs stored or "No DTCs recognized!" will be shown on the display:

X DTCs recognized!


If one or more DTCs are stored:
- Stored DTCs will be displayed and printed out in sequence.

After stored DTCs are printed out,
display will appear as shown:

NOTE: Scan Tool is partially required for further DTC reading, leave engine running and Scan Tool connected.

- Eliminate printed out DTC's using appropriate DTC table. Testing and Inspection
- Erase DTC memoryClearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

If no DTCs stored:
- Press -> button
Display will appear as shown:

- Press 0 and 6 buttons to select Function 06 "end data transfer"
- Press Q button to enter input
