DTC 00513 No Signal
DTC Code 00513, Engine Speed Sensor G28:No Signal
The Engine Speed sensor G28 signal provides speed and reference. If an engine malfunction occurs, the engine will continue running using an emergency program. The backup component is the G80 Needle Lift sensor.
Special Tools, Testers And Auxiliary Items:
- VAG 1598/18 Test Box adaptor
- Fluke 83 Multimeter or equivalent
- VW 1594 Adaptor kit
- Wiring diagram
Work Sequence:
Display will appear as shown:
Rapid data transfer HELP
Select function XX
- Press 0 and 6 buttons to select Function 06 "End data transfer"
- Press Q button to enter input
- Switch OFF ignition
- Check whether engine speed sensor is attached securely and that wiring to sensor is not damaged
- Disconnect engine speed sensor harness connector -1-
- Measure resistance between connector terminals 1 + 2:
Specification: 1000 to 1500 ohm
If specified resistance not obtained:
- Replace Engine Speed sensor G28
If specified resistance obtained:
- Connect VAG 1598/18 Test Box adaptor to ECM wiring harness connector -1-
- Check wiring for open circuit between VAG 1598/18 Test Box adaptor and 3-pin harness connector using wiring diagram:
Terminal 1 + socket 33
Terminal 2 + socket 8
Terminal 3 + socket 1
Wire resistance: 1.5 ohm maximum
- Check wiring for short between terminals at 3-pin harness connector using wiring diagram:
Specification: infinite ohm
If no malfunctions detected:
- Replace ECM J248
