DTC 00312

DTC code 00312 Temperature Sensor II G132 for Catalyst:
Open circuit, short to positive or short to ground

Special Tools, Testers And Auxiliary Items:
- VAG 1598/18 Test Box adaptor
- Fluke 83 Multimeter or equivalent
- VW 1594 Adaptor kit
- Wiring diagram

Work Sequence:
Display will appear as shown:

Rapid data transfer HELP
Select function XX


- Press 0 and 6 buttons to select Function 06 "End data transfer"
- Press Q button to enter input
- Switch OFF ignition





- Disconnect temperature sensor -1- harness connector
- Connect multimeter to sensor terminals 3 + 4 using jumper wires from VW 1594 adaptor kit





- Resistance graph for:
Temperature sensor II G132 (for Catalyst)
Temperature sensor I G20 (for Catalyst)

Example:
25°C equates to a resistance of 212 to 228 ohm

If specified resistance not obtained:
- Replace temperature sensors 1 and 2 (G20 and G132)





If specified resistance obtained:
- Connect adaptor VAG 1598/18 to ECM wiring harness





- Inspect wiring for open circuit between Test Box adaptor and harness connector using wiring diagram
Terminal 3 + socket 56
Terminal 4 + socket 33
Wire resistance: 1.5 ohm maximum

- Check for shorting between wires
specification: infinite ohm

If no malfunctions found:
- Replace ECM J248
