Fuel Supply Unit, Removing and Installing

WARNING

Fire hazard! Do NOT smoke or have anything in area that can ignite fuel.








Removing

- ensure that ignition is switched OFF

- observe safety precautions

- remove luggage compartment floor covering

- disconnect fuel sending unit and fuel pump harness connectors

- disconnect supply and return line from flange

- loosen and remove union nut using 3217 spanner

- pull flange and sealing ring out of the fuel tank opening

- loosen supply unit from bayonet connection by turning to the left and then removing

Installing

- installation of the fuel supply unit is the revese of the removal sequence

- When installing the fuel supply unit, make sure that the fuel gauge sender is not bent







- when the fuel supply unit has been correctly assembled, the fuel gauge sender unit float must point in direction A
= station wagon 5 - 10°
= sedan 70 - 75°

- moisten flange sealing ring with gasoline for assembly







- note installed position of fuel supply unit flange

- flange marking must align with mark on fuel tank
