Valve Guides, Replacing
Special Tools Needed:
Reamer 3120 and cutting fluid
Handle 3121
- Clean and check cylinder head . Do not replace valve guides if valve seats cannot be reworked, if the head was already machined to the minimum height or when service version valve guides were already installed.
- Press out worn valve guides from camshaft side, using tool 3121.
- With cold cylinder head laying flat, lubricate new guides with oil and press in with tool 3132 from camshaft side until valve guide shoulder makes contact.
CAUTION: When the guide shoulder makes contact, the pressure must not exceed 2000 lb otherwise shoulder may break off.
- Ream out guides with hand reamer 3120 using plenty of cutting fluid.
