Fig. 3 Distributor Alignment:

1. Ensure engine is set to TDC compression stroke.
2. Replace distributor base sealing gasket or O-ring as necessary.
3. Rotate distributor shaft and rotor so that tip center is slightly to right of centering mark on distributor body (about width of rotor tip), Fig. 2.
4. Using a suitable long screwdriver, align oil pump drive slot so it points towards distributor mounting bolt hole.
5. Insert distributor into engine, then ensure oil pump drive is fully engaged and rotor and centering mark are aligned.
6. Install distributor hold-down clamp and bolt, torque to 18 ft. lbs.
7. Install wiring connectors and distributor cap.
8. Check ignition timing.
9. Reset audio coded anti-theft system as outlined under "Precautions."
