Alternator: Service and Repair
1. Obtain audio coded anti-theft code, then disconnect battery ground cable.2. Disconnect wiring connectors from alternator.
3. Remove serpentine drive belt as outlined in the appropriate engine section.
4. Remove alternator mounting bolts, then alternator.
5. Remove serpentine belt pulley using holder tool No. 3310, or equivalent, as shown in Fig.1.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque drive belt pulley to 45-51 ft. lbs.
b. Torque alternator mounting bolts to 18 ft. lbs.
c. Tension drive belt as outlined in the appropriate engine section.
d. Reset audio coded anti-theft system
