VAG 1551 Scan Tool (ST)
Diagnostic tester VAG 1551, connectingPreliminary steps
- verify that fuse 3 is OK
- verify that vehicle's electrical system is operaring within normal voltage range
- allow vehicle to idle in Neutral, with parking brake fully applied. to ensure that all faults are stored
- remove shift linkage cover, to access the diagnostic connector
^ switch ignition OFF
^ connect VAG 1551/1 diagnostic cable lead to Diagnostic tester VAG 1551
^ connect branched end of diagnostic cable VAG 1551/1 to diagnostic connectors in vehicle as follows:
- black connector (ground/voltage supply) to black connector A in vehicle
- white connector (signal) to red connector B in vehicle
- blue connector: not used

* Operating modes 1 and 2 are displayed alternately.
Note: If no display appears, check voltage supply to the VAG 1551. A minimum of 10 volts from the battery is needed. If necessary, recharge the battery.
