Oil Pressure Sender: Testing and Inspection




OIL PRESSURE SWITCHES, CHECKING





0.3 (4.4 psi) bar oil pressure switch

- remove 0.3 bar oil pressure switch (brown insulation) insert into test unit and connect wire 1 (blue)
- connect test unit to cylinder head in place of oil pressure switch
- connect test lamp 2 to wire 1 and positive (+) battery terminal
- connect wire 3 (brown) to ground
^ test lamp must illuminate

- start engine and slowly increase RPM
^ test lamp must go out at 0.15-0.45 bar (2.2-6 5 psi) If not. replace oil pressure switch


1.8 bar (26.1 psi) oil pressure switch

- remove 1.8 bar oil pressure switch (white insulation) insert into test unit and connect wire 1 (blue)
- connect test unit to cylinder head in place of oil pressure switch
- connect the test lamp 2 to wire 1 and positive (+) battery terminal
- connect wire 3 (brown) to ground
^ test lamp must illuminate

- start engine and increase speed slowly
^ The test lamp must light up at a pressure of 1.6 - 2.0 bar (23.2-29 psi) it not. replace oil pressure switch

- continue increasing RPM. Oil pressure must be min 2.0 bar (29 psi) at 2000 RPM and at 80°C (176°F)
