Engine "Check" Light

***UPDATED BY TSB #908902, dated 07-31-89

Check Engine Light Switch:

CALIFORNIA ONLY

The "CHECK" light which is intergrated with the rocker test switch on the instrument panel will illuminate if the Digifant II control unit detects a condition that would cause the vehicle to exceed exhaust emission standards.
During normal operation the "CHECK" light will illuminate once, briefly, when the ignition is turned on. If a recognized fault is present for more than 10 minutes during normal operation, the engine management system will illuminate the light continuously.
To display fault codes, the rocker switch must be depressed for a least 4 seconds. The "CHECK" light will then display recognized faults in a series of flash codes.

NOTE: The "CHECK" light is incorporated only on vehicles produced prior to January 1989. Furthermore, the fault recognition circuit may have been modified on some vehicles by the dealership due to over-sensitivity.
