Throttle valve switches: Idle and full throttle checking/adjusting
Idle switch
Work sequence
- loosen upper left bolt from throttle valve housing
- attach pointer and tighten bolt
- attach protractor to 1st stage throttle valve shaft (remove nut if necessary)
- disconnect switch wire plug and connect ohmmeter
- adjust protractor to "zero"
- open throttle approx... 20~ and close slowly
^ specification: "zero" ohms at 1 to 2.5~
If not within specifications, remove throttle valve housing and adjust idle switch (arrows)
Note
Ohmmeter must indicate continuity (0 ohms) before throttle reaches idle position
Full throttle switch
^ leave pointer attached to throttle valve housing
- attach protractor to 2nd stage throttle valve shaft (remove nut if necessary)
- remove full throttle switch connectors and connect ohmmeter
- open 2nd stage throttle full "zero" protractor
- close throttle valve approx. 30~
- open throttle valve slowly and watch protractor
^ specifications: "zero" ohms at 12~ to 8~ before full throttle
- if not, adjust full throttle switch
Note
Ohmmeter must indicate zero ohms at full throttle
