Fuel Injector: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION- Clean all disassembled parts in cleaning solvent. Check for scratches, cracks or damage and replace faulty parts.
- If measurement indicates that the service limit has exceeded, repair or replace faulty parts.
NOTE: Remove carbon from around nozzle jets using a wire brush.
1. Use the nozzle cleaning kit (KVB12 89902) to clean the nozzle.
2. Remove foreign particles (such as carbon, etc.) from the end surface of the nozzle body using a nozzle brush (furnished as a special tool).
NOTE: To avoid scratching the lapping area of the nozzle body, do not use a nozzle brush but a soft cloth dampened with light oil for cleaning purposes.
3. Clean the oil sump area of the nozzle body using a scraper (furnished as a special tool).
4. Clean the seating area of the nozzle body using a seat scraper (furnished as a special tool).
NOTE: To avoid scratching, carefully clean the seating area.
5. Clean the fuel spray hole of the nozzle body using the nozzle hole cleaning needle (furnished as a special tool).
NOTE: Always use a nozzle hole cleaning needle suited to the fuel spray hole diameter.
