B1690/15 - Door Side Airbag Sensor RH Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The door side airbag sensor RH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor assembly, side airbag sensor RH, door side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH.

The side airbag sensor RH, door side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH detect impacts to the vehicle and send signals to the center airbag sensor assembly to determine if the airbags should be deployed.

DTC B1690/15 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the door side airbag sensor RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK CONNECTORS

(a) Turn the ignition switch off.

(b) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the door side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH. Also check that the connectors that link the No. 2 floor wire and front door wire RH are properly connected.

OK:

The connectors are properly connected.

HINT
If the connectors are not connected securely, reconnect the connectors and proceed to the next inspection.

(d) Disconnect the connectors from the door side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH. Also disconnect the connectors that link the No. 2 floor wire and front door wire RH.

(e) Check that the terminals of the connectors are not damaged.

OK:

The terminals are not deformed or damaged.

NG -- REPLACE WIRE HARNESS
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (OPEN)

(a) Connect the connectors that link the No. 2 floor wire and front door wire RH.





(b) Using SST, connect terminals 2 (BDR+) and 1 (BDR-) of connector E.

NOTICE:
Do not forcibly insert SST into the terminals of the connector when connecting.

SST : 09843-18040

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (OPEN)
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SHORT TO B+)

(a) Disconnect SST from connector E.





(b) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





(e) Turn the ignition switch off.

(f) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

NG -- CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+)
OK -- Continue to next step.

4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SHORT TO GROUND)

(a) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.





Standard Resistance:





NG -- CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (SHORT TO GROUND)
OK -- Continue to next step.

5. CHECK DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH

(a) Connect the connector to the rear airbag sensor RH.





(b) Interchange the door side airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors.

(c) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(d) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(e) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory DTC Check / Clear.

(f) Turn the ignition switch off.

(g) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(h) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.

Result:





HINT
Codes other than DTCs B1690/15 and B1695/16 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

(i) Turn the ignition switch off.

(j) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(k) Return the door side airbag sensors RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors.

B -- REPLACE DOOR SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH Removal

C -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK Diagnosis System
A -- Continue to next step.

6. CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH

(a) Interchange the rear airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors.





(b) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(d) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory DTC Check / Clear.

(e) Turn the ignition switch off.

(f) Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.

(g) Check for DTCs DTC Check / Clear.

Codes other than DTCs B1690/15 and B1695/16 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

(h) Turn the ignition switch off.

(i) Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.

(j) Return the rear airbag sensors RH and LH to their original positions and connect the connectors.

B -- REPLACE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH Removal

7. CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (OPEN)

(a) Disconnect the front door wire RH connector from the No. 2 floor wire.





HINT
SST has already been inserted into connector E.

(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





(c) Disconnect SST from connector E.

NG -- REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE RH

OK -- REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE

8. CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (SHORT TO B+)

(a) Disconnect the front door wire RH connector from the No. 2 floor wire.





(b) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

(c) Turn the ignition switch to ON.

(d) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Voltage:





NG -- REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE RH

OK -- REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE

9. CHECK FRONT DOOR WIRE RH (SHORT TO GROUND)

(a) Disconnect the front door wire RH connector from the No. 2 floor wire.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:





NG -- REPLACE FRONT DOOR WIRE RH

OK -- REPLACE NO. 2 FLOOR WIRE
