BRAKE CONTROL / DYNAMIC CONTROL SYSTEMS: STEERING ANGLE SENSOR (for Hatchback): INSTALLATION

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Airbag System (for Hatchback with VSC/Built-in Type Yaw Rate Sensor).

1. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the ignition switch is turned off.

(b) Check that the negative battery terminal is detached.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Check that the front tires face straight forward.

(d) Check that the turn signal switch is in the neutral position.

NOTICE:
Perform the operation when the turn signal switch is in the neutral position. Otherwise, the turn signal pin will break.

(e) Engage the 3 claws and install the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
Pull the lock pin out before installing the steering wheel when replacing the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with a new one.

(f) Connect the steering sensor connector to the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

(g) Connect the airbag connector to the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

(h) Connect the horn connector to the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly.

2. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER Installation (from 07/2011)

4. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE Installation (from 07/2011)

5. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

Installation (from 07/2011)

6. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

Torque : 5.4 Nm (55 kgf-cm, 48 in-lbf)

7. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
