Removal (from 07/2011)





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY (for Hatchback): REMOVAL

CAUTION:
Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Airbag System (for Hatchback with VSC/Built-in Type Yaw Rate Sensor).

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Initialization (from 07/2011).

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal (from 07/2011)

4. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal (from 07/2011)

5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Remove the 4 bolts.

(d) Disengage the 6 claws to separate the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

(e) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, release the locking button.

(f) Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
