DOOR / HATCH: BACK DOOR SUPPORT (for Hatchback): REMOVAL

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, slightly raise the 2 stop rings, as shown in the illustration.

NOTICE:
* Do not touch the rod of the stay with gloves, to prevent fibers from adhering.
* When foreign matter adheres to the rod, it prevents the rod from moving smoothly and reduces its holding power.

(b) Disengage the 2 ball joints and remove the back door stay.

NOTICE:
* Do not remove the stop rings from the stay. Raise the stop rings just enough to allow the stay to be disengaged.
* Do not reuse a stop ring if it is removed from the stay.

2. REMOVE BACK DOOR DAMPER STAY UPPER BRACKET

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the back door damper stay upper bracket.





3. REMOVE BACK DOOR DAMPER STAY LOWER BRACKET

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and the back door damper stay lower bracket.
