C1555/25 - Motor Relay Welding Failure

DESCRIPTION

The power steering ECU assembly supplies current to the power steering motor assembly through the motor circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
If the power steering ECU assembly has been replaced, perform assist map writing Programming and Relearning.

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT TIGHTENING TORQUE OF MOTOR TERMINAL BOLT

(a) Disengage the 4 claws to remove the protector Removal.

(b) Check that the motor terminal bolts are tightened to the specified torque Installation.

OK:

The motor terminal bolts are tightened to the specified torque.

NG -- TIGHTEN BOLT TO SPECIFIED TORQUE
OK -- Continue to next step.

2. INSPECT POWER STEERING MOTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the power steering motor assembly Removal.





(b) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

Standard Resistance:

NG -- REPLACE POWER STEERING MOTOR ASSEMBLY Removal
OK -- Continue to next step.

3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MOTOR VOLTAGE)

(a) Turn the power switch off.

(b) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(c) Turn the power switch on (READY).

(d) Turn the Techstream on.

(e) Enter the following menus: Chassis / EMPS / Data List.

(f) Select the items "Motor Terminal Volt (U)", "Motor Terminal Volt (V)" and "Motor Terminal Volt (W)" in the Data List and read the value displayed on the Techstream.
