B1635
SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM: AIRBAG SYSTEM: B1635/24: Front Passenger Side Rear Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction
DTC B1635/24 - Front Passenger Side Rear Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction
DESCRIPTION
The front passenger side rear airbag sensor circuit consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.
If the center airbag sensor assembly receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether or not the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1635/24 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the front passenger side rear airbag sensor circuit.
HINT: Troubleshoot DTC B1625/22 first when DTC B1625/22 and B1635/24 are output simultaneously.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. CHECK DTC
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(b) Clear the DTCs stored in the the memory (DTC Check / Clear).
(c) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(d) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(e) Check the DTCs (DTC Check / Clear).
OK:
DTC B1635/24 is not output.
HINT: Codes other than DTC B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
NG -- CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
OK -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
2. CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(b) Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
(c) Check that the connectors are properly connected to the front passenger side - side airbag sensor and the front passenger side rear airbag sensor.
OK:
The connectors are properly connected.
NG -- CONNECT CONNECTORS, THEN GO TO STEP 1
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN)
(a) Disconnect the connectors from the front passenger side - side airbag sensor and the front passenger side rear airbag sensor.
(b) Using a service wire, connect S18-2 (BCR+) and S18-1 (BCR-) of connector "C".
NOTE: Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Disconnect the service wire from connector "C".
(b) Connect the connector to the front passenger side - side airbag sensor.
(c) Interchange the front passenger side rear airbag sensor with the driver side rear airbag senor and connect the connectors to them.
(d) Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
(e) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(f) Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (DTC Check / Clear).
(g) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
(h) Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
(i) Check the DTCs (DTC Check / Clear).
Result:
HINT: Codes other than DTC B1630/23 and B1635/24 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
B -- REPLACE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE REAR AIRBAG SENSOR
A -- CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR
C -- USE SIMULATION METHOD TO CHECK
5. CHECK FRONT PASSENGER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR
(a) Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
