Initialization

SLIDING ROOF: SLIDING ROOF SYSTEM: INITIALIZATION

INITIALIZATION

1. INITIALIZE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) After replacing the sliding roof drive gear, it is necessary to initialize the new sliding roof drive gear. If initialization is not performed, the auto function and key-off operation will not operate normally.
(1) Turn the power switch on (IG).
(2) Make sure that there is no foreign matter on the guide rails.
(3) Make sure that the guide rails are not deformed.
(4) Make sure that the sliding roof is fully closed*1.
(5) Using the UP side of the TILT switch, move the sliding roof to the fully tilted up position.
(6) As soon as the sliding roof tilts all the way up, release the switch.
(7) Press and hold the UP side of the TILT switch again. Continue to hold the switch until the following movements finish*2: Tilt up a tilt down a slide open a slide close a roof stops. 8. Continue to hold the UP side of the TILT switch for 1 second after the roof stops.
(8) Continue to hold the UP side of the TILT switch for 1 second after the roof stops.
(9) Confirm that all auto functions (open, close, tilt up and tilt down) work properly.
HINT:
- *1: If the sliding roof reverses and stops partway, alternately press and release the necessary switches to move the roof to the desired position.
- *2: Since the roof was moved to the tilted up position in the previous step, the roof will start moving from the tilted up position. If the switch is released while the sliding roof is operating, perform initialization from the first step again.
- If the sliding roof cannot be fully closed or its position has become misaligned, perform initialization again.
- If the roof glass stops moving or starts moving in the opposite direction while the CLOSE or UP switch is held down, continue to hold the switch for another 10 seconds or more to return the sliding roof control ECU to an uninitialized condition. Then perform the initialization procedure again.
- If the AUTO operation function and jam protection function do not operate after the drive gear has been reset, replace the sliding roof drive gear (sliding roof ECU).
NOTE: If the following conditions occur during initialization procedure, initialization will fail:
- Power switch is turned off.
- Sliding roof control switch is released while sliding roof is operating.
- Vehicle speed is 5 km/h (3 mph) or more.
- Communication is cut off.
- Another switch is turned on during initialization.
- The vehicle experiences a strong vibration during initialization, such as the slamming of a door.
