REMOVAL

HINT:
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart.
- When removing/installing and overhauling the passenger seat, check the passenger occupant classification system and perform the zero point calibration.
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.

NOTICE: Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seat adjuster can cause injuries to your hands.

1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

NOTICE: Work must be started at least 90 seconds after the ignition switch is turned OFF position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery. (The SRS is equipped with a back-up power source. If work is started within 90 seconds of turning the ignition switch OFF and disconnecting the negative (-) terminal cable of the battery, the SRS may deploy.)

2. REMOVE FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER OUTER LH
3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER INNER LH
4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT TRACK COVER LH REAR OUTER
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the cover.





HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT TRACK COVER LH REAR INNER
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and remove the cover.





HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

6. REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH
a. Lift up the seat track adjusting handle and move the seat to the rearmost position.
b. Remove the 2 bolts on the front side of the seat.
c. Lift up the seat track adjusting handle and move the seat to the front most position.
d. Remove the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seat.
e. Disconnect the connectors under the seat. Then remove the front seat.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH
a. Place the seat in the cabin.





NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

b. Connect the connectors under the seat.
c. Tighten the 4 bolts in the order indicated in the illustration.

Torque: 47 N.m (480 kgf.cm, 35 ft.lbf)

2. INSTALL FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
3. INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK COVER LH REAR INNER
4. INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK COVER LH REAR OUTER
5. INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER INNER LH
6. INSTALL FRONT SEAT TRACK BRACKET COVER OUTER LH
7. CHECK SEAT SLIDE ADJUSTER LOCKS
a. During sliding operation of the front seat, check that the left and right adjusters move together smoothly and lock simultaneously.
If the adjusters do not lock simultaneously, loosen the seat fixation bolts to adjust the adjuster's positions.

8. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
9. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT
10. INITIALIZE FRONT PASSENGER OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM (PASSENGER SEAT ONLY)

NOTICE: Make sure that the seat is not occupied.

HINT: Perform the zero point calibration and sensitivity check when any of the following have occurred.
- The occupant classification ECU is replaced.
- Accessories (seatback tray, seat cover, etc.) are installed.
- The passenger seat is removed from the vehicle.
- Both the SRS warning lamp and the passenger airbag OFF indicator illuminate.
- The passenger airbag ON/OFF indicator OFF illuminate on when the passenger seat is not occupied.
- The vehicle is brought to the workshop for repair due to an accident or a collision.

a. Zero point calibration and sensitivity check procedures.

HINT: Make sure that the zero point calibration has finished normally, and then perform the sensitivity check.

1. Adjust the seat position according to the table below.





2. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
4. Perform the zero point calibration by following the instructions on the tester screen.

HINT: Refer to the intelligent tester operator's manual for further details.

OK: COMPLETE is displayed.

5. Perform the sensitivity check by following the prompts on the tester screen.
6. Confirm that the beginning sensor reading is within the standard value.

Standard value: -3.2 to 3.2 kg (-7 to 7 lb)

7. Place a 30 kg (66.14 lb) weight (for example, a lead mass) onto the passenger seat.
8. Confirm that the sensitivity is within the standard value.

Standard value: 27 to 33 kg (59.52 to 72.75 lb)

HINT:
- When performing the sensitivity check, use a solid weight made from metal. The check results may be inaccurate if liquid is used as a weight.
- When the sensitivity is not within the standard value, retighten the bolts of the passenger seat while taking care not to deform the seat rail. Then perform the sensitivity check again. If the sensitivity is not within the standard value, replace the seat adjuster.
- When the zero point calibration produces errors, replace the seat adjuster.
