INTRODUCTION:

Some 2007 model year Camry and Camry HV customers may complain of a squeak noise coming from the shifter trim area on automatic transmission equipped vehicles. Use the repair procedure below to correct this condition.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:
- 2007 model year Camry and Camry HV vehicles.

WARRANTY INFORMATION:


FELT LOCATIONS:

The Shifter Trim has now been made available as an assembly in the parts system. The new assembly has felt pre-added to various locations to prevent noise.







NOTE:
The illustrations shows the modifications to the trim assembly to improve noise condition.


REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1. Order a NEW Shifter Trim Assembly (called "Housing Assembly, Position Indicator" in the parts system), using the part number from the Parts Information section of this TSB.
2. Remove and replace the old shifter trim assembly with the NEW part.
Refer to the Repair Manual within E-TAS / TIS library:

A. Remove the shift lever knob sub-assembly by turning the shift lever counterclockwise.







B. Remove the No. 1 instrument finish panel garnish by disengaging the 2 clips (LH side).







C. Remove the No. 1 instrument finish panel garnish by disengaging the 2 clips (RH side).







D. Remove the floor shift position indicator housing sub-assembly by disengaging the 6 claws, and the 3 clips.

With Seat Heater System:
Disconnect the connector.

3. Replace the shifter trim assembly and reassemble in reverse order of disassembly.
4. Ensure the condition is no longer present.
