Differential Oil Service

DIFFERENTIAL OIL (4WD)

ADJUSTMENT





1. INSPECT AND ADJUST DIFFERENTIAL OIL
a. Stop the vehicle on the level place.
b. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the rear differential carrier cover plug (Filler plug) and gasket.
c. Check that the oil surface is within 5 mm (0.20 inch) from the lowest position of the inner surface of the rear differential carrier cover plug (filler plug) opening.

NOTICE:
^ Excessively large or small amount of oil may cause troubles.
^ After replacing oil, drive the vehicle and check the oil level.

d. Check for Oil leakage when the Oil level is low.
e. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the rear differential carrier cover plug (filler plug) with a new gasket.
Torque: 39 Nm (393 kgf-cm. 29 ft. lbs.)
2. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL
a. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), remove the rear differential carrier cover plug (filler plug) and gasket.
b. Add oil.
Capacity: 0.5 litter (0.52 US qts, 0.44 Imp. qts)
Oil grade: Hypoid gear oil API GL-5 L-5





Recommended oil viscosity

c. Check the Oil level.
d. Using a hexagon wrench (10 mm), install the rear differential carrier cover plug (filler plug) with a new gasket.
Torque: 39 Nm (398 kgf-cm, 29 ft. lbs.)

NOTICE: When having replaced the oil, recheck the Oil level after initial driving.
