Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair
FRONT DIFFERENTIAL OIL SEAL (U341F)REPLACEMENT
HINT: When replacing the front differential oil seal (LH) or (RH), perform step 1 to 13 or 14 to 23 respectively.
1. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS EELS
2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
3. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
a. Remove the drain plug, gasket and drain ATF.
b. Install a new gasket and drain plug.
Torque: 49 Nm (500 kgf-cm, 36 ft. lbs.)
4. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH
5. REMOVE TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL
a. Using SST, pull out the oil seal.
SST 09308-00010
6. INSTALL TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL
a. Using SST and a hammer, drive in a new oil seal.
SST 09726-27012 (09726-02041), 09950-70010 (09951-07200)
Oil seal drive in depth: 2.2 to 3.2 mm (0.087 to 126 inch)
b. Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.
7. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH
8. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
9. INSTALL FRONT WHEELS EELS
Torque: 103 Nm (1,050 kgf-cm, 76 ft. lbs.)
10. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
Fluid type: T-IV
Capacity: 2.9 liters (3.1 US qts, 2.6 Imp.qts)
11. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID
12. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
13. CHECK ABS SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
14. REMOVE ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE
15. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH
16. REMOVE TRANSFER ASSEMBLY
17. REMOVE FRONT TRANSAXLE CASE OIL L SEAL
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the oil seal.
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the housing.
18. REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE OIL SEAL
a. Using SST, pull out the oil seal.
SST 09308-00010
19. INSTALL FRONT TRANSAXLE CASE OIL SEAL
a. Using SST and a hammer, drive in a new oil seal.
SST 09309-37010
Oil seal drive in depth: 4.0 ± 0.5 mm (0.157 ± 0.020 inch)
b. Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.
20. INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CASE OIL SEAL
a. Using SST and a hammer, drive in a new oil seal.
SST 09950-60010 (09951-00390), 09950-70010 (09951-07200)
Oil seal drive in depth: 0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.020 to 0.020 inch)
b. Coat the lip of the oil seal with MP grease.
21. INSTALL TRANSFER ASSEMBLY
22. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH
23. INSTALL ENGINE ASSEMBLY WITH TRANSAXLE
