Connecting Rod Thrust Clearance
Using a dial indicator, measure the thrust clearance while moving the connecting rod back and forth.
Standard thrust clearance 0.16 - 0.36 mm (0.0063 - 0.0142 inch)
Maximum thrust clearance 0.36 mm (0.0142 inch)

Connecting Rod Oil Clearance
Measure the Plastigage at its widest point.
Standard oil clearance 0.016 - 0.040 mm (0.0006 - 0.0016 inch)
Maximum oil clearance 0.06 mm (0.0024 inch)

CRANKSHAFT THRUST CLEARANCE
Using a dial indicator, measure the thrust clearance while moving the crankshaft back and forth.
Standard thrust clearance 0.09 - 0.19 mm (0.0035 - 0.0075 inch)
Maximum thrust clearance 0.3 mm (0.012 inch)
Thrust washer thickness 2.430 - 2.480 mm (0.09567 - 0.09764 inch)

Connecting Rod Cap
Measure the Plastigage at its widest point.
Standard oil clearance 0.016 - 0.040 mm (0.0006 - 0.0016 inch)
Maximum oil clearance 0.06 mm (0.0024 inch)





Bearing Cap
Measure the plastigage at its widest point.
Standard oil clearance 0.010 - 0.023 mm (0.0004 - 0.0009 inch)
Maximum oil clearance 0.07 mm (0.0028 inch)

Cylinder Block For Warpage
Maximum warpage 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch)

Cylinder Bore Diameter

Piston Oil Clearance
Using a micrometer, measure the piston diameter at right angles to the piston pin center line, 27 mm (1.06 inch) from the piston head.
Piston diameter 74.945 - 74.955 mm (2.95058 - 2.95098 inch)
Subtract the piston diameter measurement from the cylinder bore diameter measurement.
Standard oil clearance 0.055 - 0.078 mm (0.00217 - 0.00307 inch)
Maximum oil clearance 0.08 mm (0.0031 inch)

Piston Ring End Gap
Using a piston, push the piston ring a little beyond the bottom of the ring travel, 110 mm (4.33 inch) from the top of the cylinder block.
Using a feeler gauge, measure the end gap.
Standard end gap:
No.1 0.25 - 0.35 mm (0.0098 - 0.0138 inch)
No.2 0.35 - 0.50 mm (0.0138 - 0.0197 inch)
Oil (Side rail) 0.10 - 0.35 mm (0.0039 - 0.0138 inch)
Maximum end gap:
No.1 0.91 mm (0.0358 inch)
No.2 1.06 mm (0.0417 inch)
Oil (Side rail) 0.82 mm (0.0323 inch)

Connecting Rod Alignment
Check for misalignment
Maximum misalignment 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch) per 100 mm (3.94 inch)
Check for twist
Maximum twist 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch) per 100 mm (3.94 inch)

Piston Pin Oil Clearance
Using a caliper gauge, measure the inside diameter of the connecting rod bushing.
Bushing inside diameter 18.010 - 18.019 mm (0.7091 - 0.7094 inch)
Using a micrometer, measure the piston pin diameter.
Piston pin diameter 18.001 - 18.004 mm (0.7087 - 0.7088 inch)
Subtract the piston pin diameter measurement from the bushing inside diameter measurement.
Standard oil clearance 0.009 - 0.015 mm (0.0003 - 0.0006 inch)
Maximum oil clearance 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch)

Connecting Rod Bolts
Standard diameter 6.6 - 6.7 mm (0.260 - 0.264 inch)
Minimum diameter 6.4 mm (0.252 inch)

Crankshaft For Circle Runout
Using a dial indicator, measure the circle runout, as shown in the illustration.
Maximum circle runout 0.03 mm (0.0012 inch)

Main Journals And Crank Pins
Using a micrometer, measure the diameter of each main journal and crank pin.
Main journal diameter 45.988 - 46.000 mm (1.8106 - 1.8110 inch)
Crank pin diameter 39.992 - 40.000 mm (1.5745 - 1.5748 inch)
Check each main journal and crank pin for taper and out of-round.
Maximum taper and out-of-round 0.02 mm (0.0008 inch)
