Shift Cable: Service and Repair
TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY (ATM)REPLACEMENT
1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
2. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE AIR BAG ECU ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
6. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
7. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
8. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect shift cable grommet retainer No.2.
b. Remove the nut from the control shaft lever.
c. Disconnect the control cable from the control shaft lever.
d. Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable from the control cable bracket.
e. Disconnect the control cable from the control cable clamp.
f. Disconnect the floor shift cable from the transmission floor shift assembly.
g. Pull out the control cable from the body.
h. Remove the shift cable grommet retainer No. 2.
9. INSTALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY
a. Put in the control cable to the body.
b. Install the shift cable grommet retainer No.2 to the floor shift cable.
c. Install the floor shift cable as shown in the illustration.
HINT:
- Install it with the uneven surface facing to up.
- Fit the claws securely.
d. Connect the control cable to the control cable clamp.
e. Install the control cable and a new clip to the bracket.
f. Temporarily install the control cable to the control shaft lever with nuts.
g. Install the shift cable grommet retainer No.2 with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 4.9 Nm (50 kgf-cm, 43 inch lbs.)
10. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY
11. INSTALL AIR BAG ECU ASSEMBLY
12. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING RADIATOR ASSEMBLY
13. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION
14. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION
15. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR SUB-ASSEMBLY
16. INSTALL AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY
17. INSTALL BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
