Removal
REMOVALHINT: When removing the soft top, put the switch into the manual mode.
1. CLOSE AND LATCH CONVERTIBLE ROOF
2. REMOVE TARPAULIN STORAGE COVER
a. Remove the 3 screws and clip, and disconnect the quarter window shield.
NOTE: Do not remove the shield.
b. Disconnect the back window wire harness.
c. Remove the clips.
d. Remove the tarpaulin storage cover from the splash shield.
3. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION AND SEATBACK ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATES
5. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM AND BACK BELT MOULDING
6. REMOVE TABS OF TARPAULIN HEADLINING
a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
7. FULLY OPEN CONVERTIBLE ROOF
8. REMOVE TARPAULIN FRONT RAIL WEATHERSTRIPS
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws and retainer
b. Remove the tarpaulin front rail weatherstrip.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
9. REMOVE FRONT ROOF SIDE RAIL GARNISH
a. Remove the clip from the tarpaulin headlining sub-assembly.
b. Remove the 4 screws and front roof side rail garnish.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
10. REMOVE ROOF HEADER GARNISH ASSEMBLY
Remove the 12 screws and roof header garnish assembly.
11. REMOVE TARPAULIN HEADLINING FRONT END
Remove the 10 screws and disconnect the front end of tarpaulin headlining.
12. RAISE CONVERTIBLE ROOF HALFWAY
13. REMOVE TARPAULIN REAR RAIL WEATHERSTRIPS
14. REMOVE TARPAULIN REAR RAIL RETAINER
a. Mark around the heads of each screw on the rear rail retainer.
b. Remove the 4 screws and tarpaulin rear rail retainer.
NOTE:
- Be careful not to lose the shims between the retainer and rail.
- Keep them in the original position.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
d. Peel the tarpaulin headlining off from the adhesive tape of the rear tarpaulin rail assembly.
15. REMOVE TARPAULIN HEADLINING
a. Pull out the tarpaulin headlining from the No.2 and No.3 tarpaulin bow.
NOTE: Do not damage the headlining.
b. Remove the tarpaulin headlining from the No.4 tarpaulin bow by sliding the tarpaulin headlining to the side away.
NOTE: When sliding the headlining, be careful not to forcibly pull it. Otherwise the headlining will be torn off.
16. FULLY OPEN CONVERTIBLE ROOF
17. REMOVE TARPAULIN COVER FROM NO.1 TARPAULIN BOW
a. Remove the screw.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
c. Peel the tarpaulin cover off from the adhesive tape of the No.1 tarpaulin bow.
d. Remove the screw from the rear tarpaulin rail assembly, and pull out the cable through the tarpaulin cover.
NOTE: Remove the rivets only when replacing the cable.
HINT: If necessary, remove the cable as follows.
- Using a drill, drill out the rivet heads from the No.1 tarpaulin bow and remove the cable.
e. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
18. CLOSE CONVERTIBLE ROOF
Close the convertible roof but do not latch it.
19. REMOVE TARPAULIN COVER FROM NO.2 AND NO.3 TARPAULIN BOW
Peel the tarpaulin cover off from the adhesive tape of the No.2 and No.3 tarpaulin bows.
20. REMOVE REAR TARPAULIN RAIL RETAINER
a. Remove the 6 screws and rear tarpaulin rail retainer.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
21. REMOVE TARPAULIN COVER FROM REAR TARPAULIN RAIL ASSEMBLY
a. Peel the tarpaulin cover off from the adhesive tape of the rear tarpaulin rail assembly.
b. Remove the screw and disconnect the cable.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
22. DISCONNECT REAR TOP COVER TARPAULIN BOW
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws and disconnect the rear top cover tarpaulin bow.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
23. REMOVE SPLASH SHIELD
24. REMOVE TARPAULIN COVER FROM REAR TOP COVER TARPAULIN BOW
a. Pull out the rear top cover tarpaulin bow with tarpaulin cover and back window from the vehicle.
NOTE: Do not apply excessive force to the tarpaulin bow.
b. Mark the position of the rear top cover tarpaulin bow front side on the tarpaulin cover.
c. Mark the position of the rear top cover tarpaulin bow upper edge on the tarpaulin cover.
d. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
e. Using a screwdriver, remove the staples from the tarpaulin cover.
f. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
25. REMOVE TARPAULIN COVER FROM NO.4 TARPAULIN BOW
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the staples from the tarpaulin cover and No.4 tarpaulin bow.
b. Peel the tarpaulin cover off from the adhesive tape of the No.4 tarpaulin bow.
26. REMOVE TARPAULIN COVER FROM VEHICLE
27. REMOVE TARPAULIN BACK WINDOW
a. Mark the position of the tarpaulin back window front side on the rear top cover tarpaulin bow.
b. Mark the position of the rear top cover tarpaulin bow upper edge on the tarpaulin back window.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
d. Using a screwdriver, remove the staples from the tarpaulin back window.
e. Mark the position of the stay pad of the tarpaulin back window on the rear top cover tarpaulin bow.
f. Using a screwdriver, remove the staples from the stay pad of the tarpaulin back window.
g. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
h. Using a torx wrench, remove the screw and side rail extension.
i. Remove the tarpaulin back window from the No.4 tarpaulin bow by sliding it to the right.
NOTE: When sliding the tarpaulin back window, be careful not to forcibly pull it. Otherwise the tarpaulin back window will be torn off.
28. REMOVE SIDE STAY PADS
a. Mark the position of each bow on the side stay pads.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the staples from the No.4, No.3 and No.2 tarpaulin bows.
c. Pull down the side stay pad and remove it.
d. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
29. REMOVE NO.2 ROOF SIDE RAIL GARNISHES
a. Remove the tarpaulin center rail weatherstrip.
b. Remove the 3 screws and No.2 roof side rail garnish.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
30. REMOVE TARPAULIN FRONT AND CENTER RAIL RETAINER
a. Mark a center line across each screw on the front rail retainer.
b. Using a torx wrench, remove the 3 screws and front rail retainer.
NOTE:
- Be careful not to lose the shims between the retainer and rail.
- Keep them in the original position.
c. Mark a center line across each screw on the center rail retainer.
d. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws and center rail retainer.
NOTE:
- Be careful not to lose the shims between the retainer and rail.
- Keep them in the original position.
e. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
31. REMOVE NO.4 TARPAULIN BOW AND BASE SETTING PLATE
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the screw, No.4 tarpaulin bow and base setting plate.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
c. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws and base setting plate.
HINT: Place matchmark before removing.
d. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
32. REMOVE RECLINING CONTROL PLATE WITH REAR SIDE TOP TARPAULIN BOW PROTECTOR AND SPACER
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws, reclining control plate with rear side top tarpaulin bow protector and spacer.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
33. REMOVE REAR SIDE TOP TARPAULIN BOW PROTECTOR
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws and rear side top tarpaulin bow protector.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
34. REMOVE NO.3 TARPAULIN BOW
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws and No.3 tarpaulin bow.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
35. REMOVE NO.1 TARPAULIN BOW, TARPAULIN LATCH AND NO.1 BOW LOCATING PIN
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws, 4 bushings, 2 spacers and No.1 tarpaulin bow.
b. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws and tarpaulin latch.
c. Remove the nut, washer and No.1 bow locating pin.
d. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
36. REMOVE TARPAULIN RAIL ASSEMBLY
a. Mark the position of the lock plate.
b. Using a torx wrench, remove the screw, nut and lock plate.
c. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws and tarpaulin rail assembly.
d. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
37. REMOVE TARPAULIN RAIL PIVOT BRACKET WITH REAR TARPAULIN RAIL ASSEMBLY AND CONVERTIBLE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the bolt, nut and tarpaulin rail pivot bracket with rear tarpaulin rail assembly and convertible roof motor assembly from the vehicle.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
38. REMOVE REAR TARPAULIN RAIL ASSEMBLY
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws.
b. Using a torx wrench, remove the screw, nut and rear tarpaulin rail assembly from the tarpaulin rail pivot bracket.
c. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
39. REMOVE RECLINING CONTROL LINK
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the screw and reclining control link.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
40. REMOVE CONVERTIBLE ROOF MOTOR ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the motor cover, 4 bolts, 4 washers and convertible roof motor assembly.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
41. REMOVE MOUNTING BRACKET FROM TARPAULIN RAIL ASSEMBLY
a. Using a torx wrench, remove the 2 screws and mounting bracket.
b. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
