Coolant Temperature Sensor / Switch HVAC: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT FROM RADIATOR
HINT: It is not necessary to drain out out all the coolant.
2. REMOVE CONVERTER & INVERTER ASSEMBLY
3. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SWITCH
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the water temperature switch.
4. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SWITCH CONTINUITY
a. Using an ohmmeter, check the no continuity exists between the terminals when the coolant temperature is above 100 °C (212 °F).
If continuity exists, replace the switch.
b. Using an ohmmeter, check the continuity exists between the terminals when the coolant temperature is below 91 °C (196 °F).
If no continuity exists, replace the switch.
5. INSTALL ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SWITCH
Torque: 34 N.m (350 kgf.cm, 25 ft.lbf)
HINT: Lubricate a new O-ring with soapy water and install them to the switch.
6. INSTALL CONVERTER & INVERTER ASSEMBLY
7. FILL WITH ENGINE COOLANT
