Ignition Timing: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION
1. ACTIVATE TRANSIT TO INSPECTION MODE AND WARM UP ENGINE
Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.





2. CONNECT TOYOTA HAND-HELD TESTER
a. Connect the TOYOTA hand-held tester to the DLC3.
b. Please refer to the TOYOTA hand-held tester operator's for further details.





3. CONNECT TIMING LIGHT TO ENGINE
Using a timing light, check the ignition timing.
Ignition timing: 7 - 15° BTDC @ idle (Transmission in parking range)
4. DISCONNECT TIMING LIGHT FROM ENGINE
5. DISCONNECT TOYOTA HAND-HELD TESTER
6. STOP ENGINE
