Idle Speed: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION1. TURN A/C SWITCH OFF
2. TURN ALL ACCESSORIES SWITCH OFF
3. CHECK AIR INDUCTION SYSTEM
a. Check that the air cleaner is clean.
b. Check that the all pipes and hoses are connected.
c. Check that the all vacuum lines are connected.
4. CHECK CONNECTION OF SFI SYSTEM WIRING
5. WARM UP ENGINE
Engine at normal operating temperature
6. CHECK IGNITION TIMING
7. CHECK IDLE SPEED
a. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
b. Race the engine at 2,500 rpm for 90 seconds.
c. Select the CURRENT DATA, and read the idle speed.
Standard (w/ Cooling fan OFF):
If the idle speed is not as specified, check the induction system and throttle body.
d. Disconnect the hand-held tester.
