Quarter Window Glass: Service and Repair
REMOVAL1. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE
Insert a screwdriver between the front door scuff plate and body to pry it out.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIMS
Remove the front door opening trims except cowl side trim parts.
3. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION
4. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK
5. REMOVE QUARTER TRIM
a. Remove the bolt and rear seat outer belt floor anchor.
b. w/ Split type rear seat:
Remove the bolt and rear seatback hinge.
c. Insert a screwdriver between the quarter trim and body to pry it out.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
6. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH
Using a screwdriver, remove the front pillar garnish.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
7. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH
a. Using a screwdriver, open the seat belt shoulder anchor cover cap.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
b. Remove the bolt and front seat outer belt shoulder anchor.
c. Remove the clip.
d. Insert a screwdriver between the roof side inner garnish and body to pry it out.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
8. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP
a. Using a screwdriver, open the caps.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
b. Remove the 2 screws.
c. Remove the assist grip.
9. REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW GLASS
a. Push a piano wire through from the interior.
b. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
HINT: Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched.
NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the paint and exterior.
c. Cut the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.
HINT: Cut the adhesive areas as shown in the illustration, leaving the adhesive where the spacers are.
d. Push the piano wire through as shown in the illustration, cut off the adhered part to the clips.
e. Remove the glass.
NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible when cutting off the glass.
INSTALLATION
1. CLEAN AND SHAPE CONTACT SURFACE OF BODY PANEL
a. Using a knife, cut away any rough areas on the body.
HINT: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible.
b. Clean the cutting surface of the adhesive with a piece of shop rag saturated in cleaner.
HINT: Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the body.
2. CLEAN REMOVED GLASS
a. Remove the damaged spacers and pins.
b. Using a scraper, remove the adhesive sticking to the glass.
c. Clean the glass with a cleaner.
NOTE: Do not touch the glass after cleaning it. - Be careful not to damage the glass.
3. INSTALL NEW SPACERS AND PINS
a. Once place new pins and spacers to the body.
b. Peel the release sheets from adhesive tapes.
c. Position the glass in correct position.
d. Remove the glass with the spacers and pins.
4. CLEAN CONTACT SURFACE OF GLASS
Using a cleaner, clean the contact surface which is black-colored area around the entire glass rim.
NOTE: Do not touch the glass face after cleaning it.
5. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF BODY WITH PRIMER "M"
Using a brush, coat Primer M to the exposed part of body on the vehicle side.
NOTE:
- Let the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not coat Primer M to the adhesive.
- Do not keep any of the opened Primer M for later use.
6. COAT CONTACT SURFACE OF NEW GLASS WITH PRIMER "G"
a. Using a brush or sponge, coat the edge of the glass and the contact surface with Primer G as shown in the illustration.
b. When the primer is coated wrongly to the area other than the specified, wipe it off with a clean shop rag before the primer dries.
NOTE:
- Let the primer coating dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Do not keep any of the opened Primer G for later use.
7. APPLY ADHESIVE
a. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle.
Part No. 08850-00801 or equivalent
HINT: After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time described in the table.
b. Load the cartridge into the sealer gun.
c. Coat the glass with adhesive as shown in the illustration.
A: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)
B: 8.0 mm (0.315 in.)
C: 14.0 mm (0.551 in.)
8. INSTALL GLASS
a. Install the glass to the body.
b. Hold the glass in place securely with the protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.
NOTE: Take care not to drive the vehicle during the time described in the table.
9. INSPECT FOR LEAKS AND REPAIR
NOTE: Conduct a leak test after the hardening time has elapsed.
10. INSTALL ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH
a. Install the roof side inner garnish to the body.
b. Install the clip.
c. Install the front seat outer belt shoulder anchor with the bolt.
Torque: 41 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
d. Close the seat belt shoulder anchor cover cap.
11. INSTALL QUARTER TRIM
a. Install the quarter trim to the body.
b. w/ Split type rear seat:
Install the rear seatback hinge with the bolt.
Torque: 41 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
c. Install the rear seat outer belt floor anchor with the bolt.
Torque: 41 N.m (420 kgf.cm, 30 ft.lbf)
12. INSTALL REAR SEATBACK

14. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM
