Oil Pump
Oil Pump:
DISASSEMBLY
1. CHECK OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR ROTATION
Turn the drive gear with 2 screwdrivers and make sure it rotates smoothly.
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the oil seal lip.
2. REMOVE O-RING
3. REMOVE STATOR SHAFT
a. Using a torx socket wrench (T30), remove the 10 torx screws.
b. Remove the 2 seal rings from the stator shaft.
4. REMOVE OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR AND DRIVEN GEAR
5. REMOVE OIL SEAL
Using a screwdriver, remove the oil seal from the oil pump body.
INSPECTION
1. CHECK BODY CLEARANCE OF DRIVEN GEAR
Push the driven gear to one side of the body. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance.
Standard body clearance: 0.10 - 0.17 mm (0.0039 - 0.0067 inch)
Maximum body clearance: 0.17 mm (0.0067 inch)
If the body clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump body sub-assembly.
2. CHECK TIP CLEARANCE OF DRIVEN GEAR
Measure the tip clearance between the driven gear teeth and drive gear teeth.
Standard tip clearance: 0.07 - 0.15 mm (0.0028 - 0.0059 inch)
Maximum tip clearance: 0.16 mm (0.0059 inch)
If the tip clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump body sub assembly.
3. CHECK SIDE CLEARANCE OF BOTH GEAR
Using a steel straight edge and feeler gauge, measure the side clearance of both gears.
Standard side clearance: 0.02 - 0.05 mm (0.0008 - 0.0020 inch)
Maximum side clearance: 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch)
If the side clearance is greater then the maximum, replace the drive gear, driven gear or pump body.
4. CHECK OIL PUMP BODY BUSHING
Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the oil pump body bushing.
Standard inside diameter: 38.126 mm (1.50102 inch)
Maximum inside diameter: 38.188 mm (1.50346 inch)
If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump body sub-assembly.
5. CHECK STATOR SHAFT BUSHING
Using a dial indicator, measure the inside diameter of the stator shaft bushings.
Standard inside diameter: 18.437 mm (0.72586 inch)
Maximum inside diameter: 18.5 mm (0.728 inch)
If the inside diameter is greater than the maximum, replace the stator shaft.
REASSEMBLY
1. INSTALL OIL SEAL
Using SST and a hammer, drive in a new oil seal.
SST 09223-22010
2. INSTALL OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR AND DRIVEN GEAR
3. INSTALL STATOR SHAFT
a. Install the 2 seal rings to the stator shaft.
b. Using a torx socket wrench (T30), install the 10 torx screws.
Torque: 9.8 Nm (100 kgf-cm, 87 inch lbs.)
4. INSTALL NEW O-RING
5. CHECK PUMP DRIVE GEAR ROTATION
Turn the drive gear with 2 screwdrivers and make sure it rotates smoothly.
NOTICE: Be careful not to damage the oil seal lip.
