Expansion Valve: Service and Repair

1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM.
2. DISCONNECT LIQUID TUBE AND SUCTION HOSE FROM A/C UNIT.




3. REMOVE EXPANSION VALVE.
Using a hexagon wrench (5.0 mm, 0.20 in.), remove the 2 bolts and separate the expansion valve and evaporator.
Torque: 5.4 Nm (55 kg.cm, 48 in.lb)

4. INSTALL NEW EXPANSION VALVE.
a. Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install them to the expansion valve.
b. Install the expansion valve.
c. Using a hexagon wrench (5.0 mm, 0.20 in.), install the 2 bolts.
Torque: 3.4 Nm (35 kg.cm, 30 in.lb)

5. CONNECT LIQUID TUBE AND SUCTION HOSE.

6. CHARGE SYSTEM WITH REFRIGERANT.
a. Evacuate air from refrigeration system.
b. Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
Specified Amount: 460 ± 30 g (16.23 ± 1.06 oz).
