Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

REPLACEMENT
1. Remove front exhaust pipe.
2. Remove park/neutral position switch.
a. Disconnect the connector.
b. Remove the control shaft lever.
c. Pry off the lock washer and remove the nut.
d. Remove the bolt and park/neutral position switch.
3. Install park/neutral position switch.
a. Install the park/neutral position switch and bolt.
Torque to: 13 N.m (9 ft. lbs.)
b. Install a new lock plate and the nut.
Torque to: 3.9 N.m (35 inch lbs.)
c. Stake the nut with the lock plate.
d. Install the control shaft lever.
Torque to: 16 N.m (12 ft. lbs.)
e. Adjust the park/neutral position switch.
f. Connect the connector.
4. Install front exhaust pipe.
