Separation

Components For Engine Separation:






1. On models with Automatic Transmission (A/T) remove oil dipstick and guide for transmission as follows:






(a) Remove the bolt.
(b) Pull out the dipstick and guide from the transmission.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the dipstick guide.
2. On all models, disconnect engine wiring from transmission as follows:
(a) Disconnect the connectors.
(b) Disconnect the wire clamps from the brackets.






3. On all models, disconnect the starter connector, then remove the two bolts, wire bracket and starter.




4. On models with A/T, disconnect the throttle cable from the throttle body, then from the cable bracket on the cylinder head.






5. Remove the two oil cooler tube hose clamp bolts and the tube clamp bolt, then loosen the two union nuts, and remove the oil cooler tubes.






6. Remove torque converter clutch mounting bolt hole plug, then turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt and remove the six bolts.






7. On all models, remove the six bolts and separate engine and transmission.

NOTE: The "17" is 17 mm head bolt, and "14" is 14 mm head bolt.

8. On models with Manual Transmission (M/T), remove clutch cover and disc as follows:






(a) Place matchmarks on the flywheel and clutch cover.
(b) Loosen each bolt one turn at a time until spring tension is released.
(c) Remove the bolts, and pull off the clutch cover with the clutch disc.

NOTE: Do not drop the clutch disc.
