Components For Engine Removal 2JZ-GE (Non-Turbocharged) Model (Part 3 Of 3):






1. Remove hood.
2. Remove radiator assembly.
3. Drain engine oil.
4. Drain fuel from fuel tank.
5. Disconnect the following control cables from throttle body:
- Accelerator cable.
- Cruise control actuator cable.
6. Remove air cleaner, Mass Air Flow (MAF) meter and intake air connector pipe assembly as follows:
(a) Disconnect the high-tension cord from the ignition coil.
(b) Disconnect the high-tension cord from the clamp on the air cleaner.
(c) Disconnect the MAF meter connector.
(d) Disconnect the following hoses:
- Power Steering (PS) air hose (1) from No.4 timing belt cover.
- PCV hose (2) from No.2 cylinder head cover.
(e) Loosen the hose clamp bolt holding the intake air connector pipe to the throttle body.
(f) Remove the three bolts, air cleaner, MAF meter and intake air connector pipe assembly.
7. Remove drive belt, fan, fluid coupling assembly and water pump pulley.
8. Remove charcoal canister.
9. Disconnect heater water hoses.
10. Disconnect brake booster vacuum hose.
11. Disconnect EVAP hose.
12. Disconnect the following wiring and connectors:
(a) Disconnect the noise filter connector.
(b) Disconnect the ignition coil connector.
(c) Disconnect the engine wire from the wire clamp.
(d) Remove the rubber cap and nut, and disconnect the generator wire.






(e) Disconnect these connectors:
- Connector from engine room main wire (1).
- Igniter connector (2).
- Theft deterrent horn connector (3).
(f) Disconnect the engine wire from the two wire clamps.
(g) Disconnect the wire clamp and PS solenoid valve connector.






(h) Remove the bolt, and disconnect the ground strap from the cylinder block.
(i) Remove the rubber cap and nut, and disconnect the starter wire.
13. Disconnect fuel hoses as follows:






(a) Remove the union bolt and two gaskets, disconnect the fuel inlet hose.

NOTE:
^ Put a suitable container or shop rag under the fuel pipe support.
^ Slowly loosen the union bolt.

(b) Suspend the hose union end upward.
(c) Disconnect the fuel return hose from the oil dipstick guide.






(d) Disconnect the fuel return hose from the fuel return hose.
- Plug the hose end.
14. Remove the engine wire bolt and bracket, and disconnect the engine wire from the intake manifold stay.
15. Disconnect PS pump without disconnecting hoses as follows:






(a) Remove the three bolts, plate washer and pump front bracket.






(b) Disconnect these hoses:
- Air hose (1) from No.4 timing belt cover.
- Air hose (2) from air intake chamber.
(c) Disconnect the vane pump from the pump bracket.

NOTE: Put aside the pump housing, and suspend it.

(d) Remove the two bolts and pump rear stay.
(e) Remove the two bolts and pump bracket.






16. Remove the two PS pressure feed hose clamp bolts, and disconnect the pressure feed hose.
17. Disconnect A/C compressor without disconnecting hoses as following:






(a) Remove the two bolts.






(b) Disconnect the compressor connector.
(c) Remove the nut.
(d) Using a torx socket (E10), remove the stud bolt, and disconnect the compressor from the engine.

NOTE: Put aside the compressor, and suspend it securely.

18. Disconnect engine wiring from cowl panel as follows:






(a) Remove the bolt, and disconnect the ground strap.
(b) Remove the two bolt, and disconnect the engine wire protector.






(c) Remove the two bolts holding the engine wire retainer to the cowl panel.
19. Disconnect engine wiring from cabin as follows:
(a) Remove the scuff plate.
(b) Take out the front side of the floor carpet.
(c) Remove the two nuts and Engine Control Module (ECM) protector.






(d) Remove the nut, and disconnect the ECM from the floor panel.






(e) Disconnect the two connectors from the ECM.
(f) Disconnect the connector from the instrument panel wire.
(g) Disconnect the connector from the connector cassette.
(h) Pull out the engine wire from the cabin
20. On models with Manual Transmission (M/T) remove shift lever boots as follows:
(a) Remove the shift lever knob.






(b) Using a screwdriver, pry out the upper console panel






(c) Remove the four bolts holding the lever boot to the transmission cover.
(d) Remove the shift and select lever boots.
(e) Remove the four bolts holding the shift lever to the shift lever retainer.
21. Disconnect clutch release cylinder and ground strap from transmission as follows:






(a) Remove the two bolts and clutch release cylinder.
(b) Remove the bolt, and disconnect the ground strap.
22. On all models remove No.2 exhaust pipe as follows:






(a) Remove the two bolts and nuts holding the No.2 front exhaust pipe to the front exhaust pipe.
(b) Remove the two bolts and pipe support bracket.
(c) Remove the gasket, and disconnect the front exhaust pipe.






(d) Remove the four nuts, No.2 front exhaust pipe and two gaskets.
23. Remove exhaust pipe heat insulator.
24. Remove propeller shaft refer to Transmission and Drivetrain.






25. On models with Automatic Transmission (A/T) remove the transmission control rod nut, and disconnect the control rod from the shift lever.






26. On models with M/T, remove the transmission shift lever bolt and nut, then the lever from inside of vehicle.
27. On all models, place a suitable jack under transmission.

NOTE: On models with A/T, be sure to put a wooden block between the jack and the transmission oil pan to prevent damage.

28. Remove rear support member as follows:






(a) Remove the four nuts holding the member to the engine rear mounting insulator.
(b) Remove the four bolts and rear support member.
29. Remove engine and transmission assembly from vehicle as follows:






(a) Attach the engine hoist chain to the two engine hangers.






(b) Remove the two nuts holding the engine front mounting insulators to the front suspension crossmember.






(c) Lift the engine out of the vehicle slowly and carefully.

NOTE: Remove the engine and transmission assembly carefully without damaging the shift lever retainer (M/T), A/C compressor or PS solenoid valve.

(d) Make sure the engine is clear of all wiring, hoses a cables.
(e) Place the engine and transmission assembly onto the stand.
