ABS w/ Traction Control
NOTE: When the Ignition Switch is turned ON, ensure the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Warning Light goes on for 3 seconds. If the indicator check result is not normal, proceed to troubleshooting for the ABS Warning Light circuit. ABS Warning Light Circuit
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) RETRIEVAL USING ABS WARNING LAMP
1. Turn the Ignition Switch ON.
2. Disconnect the short pin from Data Link Connector (DLC)1.
3. Using Special Service Tool (SST) # 09843 - 18020, or equivalent, connect terminals Tc and E1 of DLC2 or DLC1.
4. Read the DTC from the ABS Warning Light on the combination meter.
NOTE: If no code appears, inspect the diagnostic circuit or ABS Warning Light circuit.
As an example, the blinking patterns for normal code and Diagnostic Trouble Codes 11, 21, 72 and 76 are shown.
5. Record any diagnostic trouble code output, then proceed to Diagnostic Trouble Code Charts for further interpretation. Testing and Inspection
6. After completing the check, disconnect terminals Tc and E1, and turn off the display.
If 2 or more malfunctions are indicated at the same time the lowest numbered DTC will be displayed 1st.
DTC RETRIEVAL USING SCAN TOOL
1. Hook up the TOYOTA hand-held tester, or equivalent, to the DLC2.
2. Read the DTC by following the prompts on the tester screen. Please refer to the tester operator's manual for further details.
3. Record any diagnostic trouble code output, then proceed to Diagnostic Trouble Code Charts for further interpretation. Testing and Inspection
