Without Scan Tool
(1) Speed Sensor signal check.(a) When the Ignition Switch is turned ON, check that the ABS Warning Light goes on for 2 seconds.
(b) Turn the Ignition Switch OFF.
Speed Sensor Signal Check:
(c) Using SST, connect terminals Ts and E1 of DLC1.

(d) Start the engine.
Reading Blinks Of The ABS Warning Light:
(e) Check that the ABS Warning Light blinks.
NOTE: If the ABS Warning Light does not blink, inspect the ABS Warning Light circuit.
(f) Drive vehicle straight forward.
NOTE:
- Drive vehicle at 45 - 55 km/h (28 - 34 mph) for several seconds.
- If the brake is applied during the check, the check routine must be started again.
(g) Stop the vehicle.
(h) Turn the Ignition Switch OFF.
(i) Disconnect the SST from terminals Ts and E1 and, connect the SST to terminals Tc and E1 of DLC1.

(j) Turn the Ignition Switch ON.
(k) Read the number of blinks of the ABS Warning Light.
NOTE: See the list of DTC.
If every sensor is normal, a normal code is output (A cycle of 0.25 sec. ON and 0.25 sec. OFF is repeated).
Malfunction Code Example:
If 2 or more malfunction are indicated at the same time, the lowest numbered code will be displayed 1st.
(l) After doing the check, disconnect the SST from terminals Tc and E1 of DLC1, and turn Ignition Switch OFF.

DTC Check Using Hand-Held Tester:
(2) DTC check using TOYOTA hand-held tester.
(a) Do step 1. - 6. on the previous procedure.
(b) Hook up the TOYOTA hand-held tester to the DLC2.
(c) Read the DTC by following the prompts on the tester screen.
