FUEL LEAKAGE TEST PROCEDURE

NOTICE: Check that there are no fuel leaks after performing maintenance anywhere on the fuel system.

Components For Fuel Pump Removal And Installation:




- Remove rear seat bottom and disconnect the fuel pump connector.



- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 4 of the fuel pump connector, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 5 of the fuel pump connector.

CAUTION:
^ Perform this test quickly (within 10 seconds) to prevent the coil from burning out.
^ Keep the fuel pump as far away from the battery as possible.
^ Always do the switching at the battery side.





- Pinch the fuel return hose.
- The pressure in the high pressure line will rise to approximately 400 kPa (57 psi).
- In this state, check to see that there are no leaks from any part of the fuel system.

NOTICE: Always pinch the hose. Avoid bending as it may cause the hose to crack.

- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
- Disconnect the jumper wires to the fuel pump connector.
- Reconnect the fuel pump connector.
