Injection Inspection





INJECTORS INJECTION INSPECTION

CAUTION: Keep injector clear of sparks during the test.




- Disconnect the fuel hose from the fuel filter outlet.
- Connect SST (union and hose) to the fuel filter outlet with the 2 gaskets and the union bolt.
- SST 90405-09015 - No.1 union
- SST 09268-41046 - Injector test set
- Remove the fuel pressure regulator.



- Connect the fuel return hose, SST (hose) and SST (union) to the fuel pressure regulator.
- SST 09268-41091 - No.7 union
- Install the O-ring to the injector.



- Connect SST (union and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with SST (clamp).
- Put the injector into the graduated cylinder.
HINT: Install a suitable vinyl hose onto the injector to prevent gasoline from splashing out.
- Remove the fuse cover on the instrument panel.



- Connect the Toyota hand-held tester to the DLC3.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and Toyota hand-held tester main switch ON.
NOTICE: Do not start the engine.
- Select the active test mode on the Toyota hand-held tester.
- Refer to the Toyota hand-held tester operator's manual for further details.

- If you have no Toyota hand-held tester, connect a wire from the fuel pump connector terminal 4 to the positive (+) battery terminal and another wire from the fuel pump connector terminal 5 to the negative (-) battery terminal.




- Connect SST (wire) to the injector and battery for 15 seconds. and measure the injection volume with a graduated cylinder.
- SST 09842-30070 - Injector test wire.
- Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

Volume: 56 - 69 cc (3.4 - 4.2 cu in.) per 15 secs.
Difference between each injector: 6 cc (0.4 cu in.) or less

- If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.

2. INSPECT LEAKAGE



- In the condition above, disconnect the test probes of SST (wire) from the battery and check the fuel leakage from the injector.

Fuel leakage: 1 drop or less per minute

- Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
- Remove SST.
- SST 09268-41046, 09842-30070
- Reinstall the fuel pressure regulator to the delivery pipe.

Torque: 8 Nm (80 kgf.cm, 69 in.lb)

- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK.
- Disconnect the Toyota hand-held tester from the DLC3.
- Reinstall the fuse cover on the instrument panel.

- If you have no Toyota hand-held tester, disconnect the wires from the battery then the fuel pump connector.
