Compressor HVAC: Service and Repair





REMOVAL

1. Run engine at idle speed with A/C on for approx ten minutes.
2. Stop engine.
3. Remove battery.
4. Recover refrigerant from refrigeration system.
5. Remove cooling fan.
6. Disconnect discharge hose and suction hose from compressor.
7. Disconnect connector from magnetic clutch.
8. Remove compressor.
a. Loosen the drive belt.
b. Remove three bolts and compressor.

INSTALLATION

1. Install compressor.
a. Install compressor with 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Specified torque: 25 Nm (18 ft.lb)
b. Install drive belt.
2. Connect connector to magnetic clutch.
3. Connect discharge hose and suction hose to compressor.
Specified torque: 25 Nm (18 ft.lb)

NOTE: Hoses should be connected immediately after the caps have been removed.

4. Evacuate air in refrigeration system and charge with refrigerant.
Specified amount: 850 +/- 50 g (29.98 +/- 1.76 oz)
5. Inspect for leakage of refrigerant. Using a gas leak tester, check for leakage of refrigerant.
If there is leakage, check the tightening torque at the joints.
6. Inspect A/C operation.
