Rear Door: Service and Repair

REAR DOOR DISASSEMBLY





1. w/o Power Window:
REMOVE REGULATOR HANDLE:
Pull off the snap ring with a shop rag and remove the regulator handle and plate.

ASSEMBLY HINT: With door window fully closed, install the plate and the regulator handle with the snap ring.





2. W/ Power Window:
REMOVE POWER WINDOW SWITCH
Using a screwdriver, pry out the switch.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

3. REMOVE INSIDE HANDLE BEZEL
a. Using a screwdriver, pry out the bezel.

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

b. Pull the bezel rearwards to remove it.





4. REMOVE DOOR TRIM

HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

a. Remove the 4 clips.
b. Using a screwdriver, remove the screw cap.
c. Remove the 2 screws.
d. Insert the screwdriver between the door and the door trim to pry out.
e. Pull the trim upwards to remove it then disconnect the connector.





5. REMOVE DOOR INSIDE HANDLE
a. Disconnect the 2 links.
b. Remove the 3 screws and inside handle.

6. REMOVE SERVICE HOLE COVER

ASSEMBLY HINT: Adjust rear door glass alignment. Adjust the glass and tighten when dimension A and B, as shown, are equal. Substitute the bolt with washer for the centering bolt.





7. REMOVE DOOR GLASS RUN

HINT: Pull the glass run upwards.





8. REMOVE REAR DOOR BELT MOULDING:
Pry out the clips from the edge of the weatherstrip and remove the moulding.

9. REMOVE REAR DOOR CUSHION

10. Sedan:
REMOVE DOOR GLASS DIVISION BAR

11. Wagon:
REMOVE REAR LOWER FRAME

12. REMOVE DOOR GLASS

HINT: Insert a shop rag inside the panel to prevent scratching the glass.

13. Sedan:
REMOVE QUARTER WINDOW GLASS WITH WEATHERSTRIP

HINT: Remove the quarter window glass together with the weatherstrip by pulling it forwards.

14. Wagon:
REMOVE REAR DOOR FRAME MOULDING





a. Remove the 2 screws and nut.
b. Pry out the clips and remove the moulding.

15. Sedan:





REMOVE REAR DOOR FRAME MOULDING

Wagon:
REMOVE REAR DOOR FRAME MOULDING
a. Remove the 3 screws and nut.
b. Pry out the clips and remove the moulding.





16. REMOVE REAR DOOR UPPER MOULDING
a. Sedan: Remove the clip.
b. Sedan: Remove the 5 screws and the moulding.
c. Wagon: Remove the 3 screws and the moulding.

17. REMOVE REAR DOOR WEATHERSTRIP

HINT: Do not pull strongly on the weatherstrip as it may tear.

18. REMOVE DOOR INSIDE PANEL FRAME





19. REMOVE WINDOW REGULATOR

Torque: 5.4 N-m (55 kgf.cm. 48 In.lbf)

HINT: Remove regulator through the service hole.

ASSEMBLY HINT: Apply MP grease to the window regulator rollers.

20. REMOVE CHILD PROTECTOR LOCK LEVER KNOB.

HINT: Using a screwdriver, pry out the knob. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.





21. REMOVE DOOR LOCK
a. Remove the clip.
b. Disconnect the 2 links from the door lock and remove 2 links.
c. Remove the 3 screws.

Torque: 5.4 N-m (55 kgf.cm. 48 In.lbf)

ASSEMBLY HINT: Apply adhesive to the 3 screws.

Adhesive: Part No. 08833-00070, THREE BOND 1324 or equivalent

d. w/ Power Door Lock:
Disconnect the connector.





e. Remove the door lock through the service hole.

ASSEMBLY HINT: Apply MP grease to the sliding surface of the door lock.

22. REMOVE OUTSIDE HANDLE WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT.

REAR DOOR ASSEMBLY
Assembly is in the reverse order of disassembly.
