Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The ECM operates the IAC valve to control fast idle and load-compensated idle speeds.

OPERATION
The IAC valve is a rotary solenoid type that routes intake air around the throttle plate to control idle speed.

Battery voltage is applied to the IAC valve at terminal +B and the ECM controls ground availability to terminals RSC (close) and RSO (open) to operate the valve.
