IDLE SPEED INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT1. INITIAL CONDITIONS.
- Engine coolant at normal operating temperature.
- Air cleaner installed
- All pipes and hoses of air induction system connected.
- All vacuum hoses (for EGR system, etc.) should be properly connected.
- MFI system wiring connectors fully plugged
- Ignition timing set correctly
- All accessories switched OFF
- Transmission in neutral position
2. CONNECT TACHOMETER.
Terminals In DLC1:
- Connect the tester probe to terminal IG- of the DLC1.
NOTICE:
^ Do not allow the tachometer terminal (IG-) to touch ground as this could result in damage to the igniter or ignition coil.
^ Some tachometers are not compatible with this ignition system. Confirm the compatibility of your unit prior to use.
3. INSPECT AND ADJUST IDLE SPEED.
- Race the engine at 2,500 rpm for approx. 2 minutes.
- Using a jumper wire or SST, connect terminals TE1 and E1 of the DLC1.
- After engine speed is kept at 1,000 - 1,300 rpm for 5 seconds, check that it returns to idle speed.
- Adjust the idle speed by turning the idle speed adjusting screw.
Idle speed: ..... 750 rpm
(w/ Cooling fan OFF)
- Remove the jumper from the DLC1.
4. DISCONNECT TACHOMETER.
