Part 1 of 2

TURBOCHARGER REMOVAL:
1. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT.
2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVERS.
3. REMOVE RH ENGINE HOOD SIDE PANEL.



4. REMOVE UPPER SUSPENSION BRACE.



5. REMOVE NO.1 AND NO.2 INTAKE AIR CONNECTORS.
6. w/ Cruise Control System:



DISCONNECT CRUISE CONTROL ACCELERATOR LINKAGE FROM BODY.

7. REMOVE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ELECTRIC COOLING FAN.





8. DISCONNECT A/C COMPRESSOR FROM ENGINE.























9. REMOVE TAILPIPE AND FRONT EXHAUST PIPE.

















10. REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE.
11. REMOVE FRONT ENGINE MOUNTING BRACKET, INSULATOR AND CLUTCH RELEASE CYLINDER.











12. REMOVE FRONT TWC.



- Remove the 4 bolts and RH TWC Stay.



- Remove the 3 bolts and LH TWC stay.



- Remove the 3 bolts, 2 nuts, TWC, gasket, retainer and cushion.

13. REMOVE AIR BYPASS VALVE.
- Disconnect the hose and VTV from the clamp.
- Disconnect the 2 air bypass hoses.



- Remove the bolt and 2 clamps.
- Remove the bolt and air bypass valve.
- Remove the 0-ring from the air bypass valve.

14. REMOVE NO.4 AIR TUBE.



- Remove the 4 bolts and air tube stay.



- Loosen the hose clamp, and remove the air tube.

15. REMOVE RH FRONT ENGINE HANGER.



- Remove the 4 bolts and engine hanger.

16. REMOVE TURBOCHARGER HEAT INSULATOR.



- Remove the 3 bolts and heat insulator.

17. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR.



- Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.
- Remove the 2 nuts, cover, heated oxygen sensor and gasket.

18. REMOVE TURBINE OUTLET ELBOW HEAT INSULATORS.
- Remove the oil dipstick.



- Remove the 3 bolts and RH heat insulator.
- Remove the 2 bolts and LH heat insulator.

19. DISCONNECT HOSES.
Disconnect these hoses:



1. Water hose from water inlet housing.
2. Water hose from water bypass pipe.
3. Air hose from actuator.



4. Turbo oil hose from turbo oil pipe.




20. REMOVE TURBOCHARGER STAY.

21. REMOVE TURBOCHARGER.



- Remove the turbo oil pipe and 3 gaskets.
- Remove the 4 nuts, turbocharger and gasket.

22. REMOVE TURBO OIL PIPE.



- Remove the 2 nuts, oil pipe and gasket

23. REMOVE TURBO WATER PIPE.



- Remove the 2 nuts, water pipe and gasket.

24. REMOVE SIDE BEARING HOUSING PLATE.



- Remove the 2 nuts, housing plate and gasket.

25. REMOVE TURBINED OUTLET ELBOW.



- Remove the 6 nuts, outlet elbow and gasket.



TURBOCHARGER INSTALLATION:




NOTICE: After replacing the turbocharger assembly, pour approx. 2 cc (0.12 cu in.) of fresh oil into the oil inlet and turn the impeller wheel by hand to splash oil on the bearing.

1. INSTALL TURBINE OUTLET ELBOW.



- Install a new gasket and the outlet elbow with the 6 nuts.

Torque: 64 Nm (47 ft.lb)

2. INSTALL SIDE BEARING HOUSING PLATE.



- Install a new gasket and the housing plate with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 11 Nm (9 ft.lb)

3. INSTALL TURBO WATER PIPE.



- Install a new gasket and the water pipe with the 2 nuts.

Torque: 11 Nm (9 ft.lb)

4. INSTALL TURBO OIL PIPE.



- Align the oil holes of the a new gasket and the turbo charger housing.
- Install the gasket and oil pipe with the 2 nuts.
- NOTE: DO NOT torque the nuts yet.
