EGR Temperature Sensor: Testing and Inspection






EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR INSPECTION
1. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP AND DISCONNECT CONTROL CABLES.
2. DISCONNECT THROTTLE BODY FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD.
- Refer to Service and Repair.
3. REMOVE EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR.



- Disconnect the sensor connector from the bracket on the No.1 intake manifold stay, and disconnect the sensor connector from the wiring connector.
- Remove the temperature sensor.

4. INSPECT EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR.



- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.

Resistance | Temperature
64 - 97 k Ohms | 50°C (112°F)
11 - 16 k Ohms | 100°C (212°F)
2 - 4 k Ohms | 150°C (302°F)


- If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.

5. REINSTALL EGR GAS TEMPERATURE SENSOR.
- Install the temperature sensor.
Torque: 20 Nm (14 ft.lb)
- Connect the sensor connector, and install the sensor connector to the bracket on the No.1 intake manifold stay.

6. REINSTALL THROTTLE BODY.
7. CONNECT CONTROL CABLES AND INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP.
