Air Temperature Sensor ( Ambient / Intake ): Testing and Inspection
IAT SENSOR INSPECTIONIntake Air Temperature Sensor:
1. REMOVE IAT SENSOR.
2. INSPECT IAT SENSOR.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
Temperature | Resistance
-20° C (-4° F) | 10.0 - 20.0 k Ohms
0° C (32° F) | 4.0 - 7.0 k Ohms
20° C (68° F) | 2.0 - 3.0 k Ohms
40° C (104° F) | 0.9 - 1.3 k Ohms
60° C (140° F) | 0.4 - 0.7 k Ohms
80° C (176° F) | 0.2 - 0.4 k Ohms
- If the resistance is not as specified. replace the sensor.
3. REINSTALL IAT SENSOR.
