Main Relay (Computer/Fuel System): Testing and Inspection

EFI MAIN RELAY INSPECTION

1. REMOVE EFI MAIN RELAY.

MAIN RELAY LOCATION: In the engine compartment relay box (R/B 2):






2. INSPECT EFI MAIN RELAY. (NIPPONDENSO)
- Inspect relay continuity.



- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between terminals 1 and 2.
- Check that there is no continuity between terminals 3 and 5.
- If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.
- Inspect relay operation.



- Apply battery positive voltage across terminals 1 and 2.
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between terminals 3 and 5.
- If operation is not as specified, replace the relay.

3. INSPECT EFI MAIN RELAY. (BOSCH)
- Inspect relay continuity.



- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between terminals 86 and 85.
- Check that there is no continuity between terminals 87 and 30.
- If continuity is not as specified, replace the relay.
- Inspect relay operation.



- Apply battery positive voltage across terminals 86 and 85.
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continue between terminals 87 and 30.
- If operation is not as specified, replace the relay.

4. REINSTALL EFI MAIN RELAY.
