Component Tests and General Diagnostics

1. DISCONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE FROM BATTERY.

CAUTION: Work must not be started for at least 90 seconds from the time the ignition switch is turned to the LOCK position and the negative (-) terminal cable is disconnected from the battery.

2. DISCONNECT CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CONNECTOR.
3. INSPECT CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR RESISTANCE.

NOTICE: "Cold" and "Hot" in the following specifications express the temperature of the sensors themselves.
- Cold is from 10°C (14°F) to 50°C (122°F)
- Hot is from 50°C (122°F) to 100°C (212°F).

- Using an ohmmeter measure the resistance between terminals.

Resistance (Cold): 835 - 1.400 Ohms
Resistance (Hot): 1,060 - 1,645 Ohms

- If the resistance is not as specified. replace the Camshaft Position Sensor.
4. RECONNECT CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR CONNECTOR.
5. RECONNECT NEGATIVE (-) TERMINAL CABLE TO BATTERY.

For circuit testing information refer to DTC P0340 - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction under the "Trouble Code Charts".
